Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated Bilingual (English/Spanish) Assistant Plant Manager to join our team at Holden America IL LLC. The ideal candidate will support the Plant Manager in overseeing daily operations, ensuring efficient production processes, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety. This role involves managing the processing of sales orders, overseeing inventory forecasting, procurement, and control, and assisting in planning and scheduling production activities. Additionally, the Assistant Plant Manager will supervise a team of 70 hourly employees, travel to customer sites for training and observation, chair the safety committee, and assist in strategic planning. The role also includes maintaining the facility and managing freight contracts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sales Order Processing:
- Manage the processing of sales orders to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment.
- Coordinate with the sales and production teams to meet customer demands.
- Inventory Management:
- Oversee inventory forecasting, procurement, and control to ensure optimal stock levels.
- Implement inventory management systems and procedures to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Production Requirements and Scheduling:
- Assist in planning and scheduling production activities to meet business goals.
- Monitor production processes and resolve any issues that arise.
- Employee Management:
- Supervise and manage a team of 70 hourly employees.
- Foster a positive work environment and promote employee engagement and growth.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback and training as needed.
- Field Operations:
- Travel to customer sites to provide training on the use of our products.
- Observe railcar tests and rail operations to ensure product performance and customer satisfaction.
- Gather feedback from customers to inform product improvements and address any issues.
- Safety Committee:
- Chair the safety committee to ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety within the plant.
- Lead safety meetings, conduct safety audits, and implement safety initiatives.
- Strategic Planning:
- Assist the Plant Manager in developing and implementing strategic plans for the plant.
- Analyze production data and provide insights for continuous improvement.
- Building Maintenance:
- Ensure the overall maintenance and safety of the facility.
- Coordinate with maintenance staff and external contractors for repairs and upgrades.
- Freight Contracts:
- Assist in negotiating and managing freight contracts to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery of materials and products.
Qualifications:
- Candidate must be bilingual (English / Spanish)
- Associate degree or equivalent education as employees are supervising.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of inventory management, procurement, and production scheduling.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
