An Expert Weld Tech is responsible for conducting training for welders going through Trinity Industries Weld Academy.  They will also ensure all Welding Standards are being followed and upheld to the throughout the facility. Weld Tech will also act as a mentor to new employees and will usually be the first contact with to Trinity for them so they will need to act in a professional and responsible behavior throughout their day.

What you'll do:

  • Exhibit Trinity Core Values and TrinityRail Maintenance Services 3 Ts (take care of our people, trust, and transparency)
  • Making welds that pass NDT testing
  • Be present and available for work
  • Excel in a team environment
  • Act as resource for production welders if there additional training needed, or directing in performing of a function that there is question.
  • Produce a high quality of welding on various different types of base metal ranging from but not limited to carbon steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.
  • Understand and ensure implantation of Welding Procedure Specification are being performed in plant and in Weld Academy
  • Uphold Trinity Industries Welding and Quality Standards throughout your daily job duties, while ensuring Production Welders are doing the same.
  •  Aid in managing Trinity Industries Welder database
  • Assist in parameter verification for welding machines
  • While all job functions are being performed ensure that all safe practices are being followed as well as others around you

What you'll need:

  •  3-5 years of metal fabrication
  • Capable of communicating with trainees, and plant leadership in a clear and concise fashion.
  • Achieve several different welder qualifications in different welding processes such as but not limited to GMAW, FCAW, 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G.
  • Proficient in Blueprint reading
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed
  • Previous railcar experience highly recommended
