Trinity Industries Fleet Operations team is seeking a Fleet Operations Program Manager for our Dallas, TX Headquarters. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing railcar repair activities, managing costs, customer service, auditing invoices and estimates, ensuring regulatory compliance, and problem solving with cross functional teams both internally and externally.

What you’ll do:

  • Prepare and issue railroad car repair instructions so vendor repair shops know what work is needed (Instructions will be generated based on currently in place processes, procedures and scopes of work
  • Act as a liaison and solve problems that arise between repair shops, customers, engineering, accounting and other groups within Trinity
  • Conduct weekly shop and customers calls to collaborate across the Trinity platform with all users to ensure positive results
  • Analyze shop repair estimates and invoices for accuracy and potential cost savings
  • Approve repairs and use available data tools to make decisions to decrease cost of ownership of the fleet, while maintaining optimal levels of throughput
  • Monitor and influence repair shops performance on cost, turnaround time, on time delivery, document accuracy, and customer service
  • Report to assigned customers regularly on health of their railcar fleet, cost savings activities, annual performance, and recommendations to provide customers with continuous value

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; Engineering, Mathematics or Business degrees preferred
  • 5 years’ experience performing data and analytics, mechanical operations, expense auditing, billing, claims adjusting, and/or financial analysis
  • Critical thinking and a drive to continuously better yourself and Trinity Industries.
    Basic mechanical understanding and a desire to learn railcar maintenance fundamentals – Trinity is an expert and if you are excited to learn we are excited to teach
  • Knowledge of AAR/FRA rules and regulations pertaining to railcar repair and maintenance a plus, but not required
  • Customer-focused, excellent relationship building skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to learn and work with a close community of teammates who are dedicated to positive results
