Trinity Rail Maintenance Services is searching for an Operations Manager in our Fort Worth, TX railcar facility.
As the Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal figure within our plant leadership team. Establishes functional business plans and technical project objectives to meet plant goals. Embraces a collaborative culture, commitment to excellence, and maintains a strong focus on continuous improvement. Demonstrates servant leadership by contributing to long-term operational plan, overcoming operational obstacles, managing production, and improving employee performance to ensure that the plant’s safety, quality, and production goals are achieved.
What You'll Do:
Lead Mechanical and Coating Operations.
Act as member of the Site Leadership Team with responsibility to deliver financial performance, strategic and tactical business objectives, and the positive work culture of the site.
Responsible for the mechanical inspection and repair of rail cars brought in for routine and non-routine maintenance.
Responsible for the finishing (paint/lining/blast) process for all railcars brought in for routine and non-routine maintenance.
Responsible for ensuring all work meets both customer expectations and FRA compliance requirements.
Manage and direct the activities of supervisors and the production operations team.
Ensure employees are trained and properly certified for the work they perform.
Works with all functional departments in the implementation of continuous improvement activities associated with the manufacturing operations.
Demonstrate strong mentoring skills for coaching and developing supervision staff as well as hourly personnel.
Assures that production meets Trinity quality standards, maintains effective process controls and guides continuous improvement efforts across all business processes
Responsible for the Environmental Health and Safety of all engaged in downstream activities, examples:
Confined space entry
Crane operations
Welding gouging and grinding
Certifying cars mechanically repaired to customers and regulatory standards.
Interior/Exterior blast
Paint and Lining Applications
Environmental compliance and conservation
Ensure responsible waste disposal
Responsible for the Quality of mechanical repairs and paint/lining repairs.
Responsible for meeting Trinity and customers’ cleaning requirements.
Responsible for Labor Efficiency, and financial results of mechanical repair operations
Set production schedules based on commodities, efficiency, staffing resources, and volume required to meet the demand of overall plant production.
Responsible for capturing all additional repairs/work on the rail car.
Responsible for managing operational costs for all operations.
Responsible for coordinating workload according to completion schedules.
What you'll need:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, plus a minimum of 8 years related management/supervisory experience
8 years' experience in management of production and related processes
Experience leading cross-functional teams
Knowledge of railcar industry helpful
Proven ability to analyze production and operational challenges, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions that minimize downtime and improve efficiency. Experience in applying lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies to resolve complex issues on the shop floor
Skilled in developing and executing operational strategies that align with plant goals and production schedules. Capable of forecasting resource needs, anticipating supply chain disruptions, and planning for seasonal or demand-based fluctuations weeks and months in advance
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with a track record of resolving conflicts between teams, shifts, or departments. Able to mediate disputes professionally and foster a collaborative environment that supports productivity and morale
Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. Encourages open communication, supports team development, and builds strong relationships across production, quality, maintenance, Materials, HR, etc. to drive plant-wide success
