Trinity Industries is searching for a Portfolio Data Analyst for our Dallas, TX office.
The Portfolio Data Analyst will play a crucial role in analyzing and interpreting data to support decision-making processes within the rail industry. This position combines analytical skills with general industry knowledge of various rail car types to collect, organize and report on various data sets related to rail car operations. What you'll do:
- Gather data from various sources including internal databases, industry reports and third-party sources
- Ensure data quality and accuracy by implementing quality control measures
- Uses business intelligence reporting tools like QlikSense to filter data and get intelligence reports that meet requirements
- Organize and maintain data repositories for easy access and retrieval
- Utilize industry reporting to retrieve data and understand reporting requirements for these systems
- Perform data management activities
- Collaborate with cross functional teams and work closely with stakeholders to understand data needs and provide analytical support
- Accept/Reject compliance documentation by utilizing knowledge of freight billing maintenance practices to determine applicability of compliance documentation requirements
What you'll need:
- Associate degree and 2 years’ experience in rail industry
- 1 year of experience in office administration
- Knowledge of rail car types in North American freight rail fleet and industry
- Experience performing data management activities in enterprise data applications
- Understand maintenance scopes of work and freight maintenance billing practices
- Knowledge of industry reporting systems (UMLER, TCID, EHMS) and understand reporting requirements for those systems
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Proficient in MS Outlook, Excel, MS Edge, Google Chrome, or similar web browsers
