Trinity Rail Maintenance Services is searching for a talented team player to fill the open position of Production Supervisor (Night Shift) at our Shell Rock, IA manufacturing facility!
The Production Supervisor (Night Shift) will provide dedicated leadership and operational oversight for all second shift operations, including Cleaning, Mechanical, Linings, Coatings, Final Assembly, Painting, Blasting and Warehouse across the entire facility. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a results-driven leader who will play a key role in shaping TrinityRail’s future success. As the primary leader on nights, the Production Supervisor will be responsible for managing people, production, and safety, ensuring seamless plant operations during the night shift. Reporting to the Mechanical Superintendent, this role requires a self-starter with high integrity, ready to elevate our night shift performance by leading our talented workforce and recruiting new team members as we grow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations of Cleaning, Mechanical, Linings, Coatings, Final Assembly, Painting, Blasting, Warehouse, and Safety during the night shift for the entire plant
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, production schedules, and operational procedures for all second shift activities
- Mentor, coach, and develop a diverse team, fostering a culture of accountability, quality, and safety
- Coordinate resources and shift schedules to optimize efficiency, reduce downtime, and maintain service quality
- Lead the execution of strategic initiatives and process improvements to continually enhance plant performance and second shift capabilities to achieve targets
- Collaborate with site leadership and other supervisors to ensure consistency of standards and support overall organizational objectives
- Identify talent needs, participate in the hiring process, and promote ongoing skill development for team expansion as business demands evolve
- Act as the primary decision-maker for night shift operations, proactively resolving issues and ensuring all personnel adhere to TrinityRail’s standards of excellence
What you'll need:
- Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering or similar field desired, but not required, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3 years’ experience in a production supervisory position in a manufacturing environment
- Build and lead a productive work group
- Plan work procedures, equipment, material and manpower needs
- Communicate/interface at all levels, verbal and written
- Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and team development
- Manage multiple priorities across different functional areas and buildings
