The Quality Engineer at Trinity Rail Maintenance Services supports the Quality Assurance Manager by maintaining and enhancing the quality assurance program in compliance with Trinity Quality Assurance Policies and Procedures, AAR rules, and technical standards. Key responsibilities include implementing and updating quality processes, managing nonconformance data, facilitating Root Cause and Corrective Action processes, and participating in quality audits. This role involves working closely with various departments to ensure quality standards are met, providing technical support, and assisting in training employees on quality assurance procedures. Additionally, Quality Engineer maintains accurate quality documentation, monitors quality performance metrics, and ensures compliance with industry regulations, all while focusing on continuous improvement and effective communication.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist in leading and maintaining the quality assurance program in accordance with Trinity Quality Assurance Policies and Procedures, AAR rules, and technical standards.
- Help implement and regularly update quality processes to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Create, review, analyze, and report nonconformance data, focusing on continuous improvement.
- Facilitate Root Cause and Corrective Action processes with the cross-functional operations team, participate in initiatives to enhance quality and service delivery, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Plan and participate in AAR, FRA, Customer, or Internal Quality Assurance facility audits and certification events, ensuring compliance with audit standards.
- Work closely with various departments to ensure quality standards are met and communicate effectively to address quality-related issues.
- Assist in training employees on quality assurance processes and procedures and assist in maintaining quality records.
- Maintain accurate quality documentation and provide regular reports on quality performance to stakeholders.
- Provide technical support and guidance to production teams to ensure quality standards are met and assist in troubleshooting quality-related issues.
- Monitor and analyze quality performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
- Ensure all quality processes and procedures comply with relevant industry regulations and standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.
Bachelor’s degree in industrial or mechanical engineering or related technical degree
Minimum 3-4 Years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in metal parts fabrication
Strong computer and presentation skills, proficient in MS-Office applications, ERP and engineering systems
Proficient with CAD applications (Inventor/Solid Works) and video-editing software Preferred
Experience leading/working in cross-functional teams
Familiarity with business and financial principles3+ years of CI experience, preferred
Possess some technical skills and hands on experience in continuous improvement activities
Solid application and knowledge of LEAN techniques and related CI tools
Knowledgeable in Root Cause Analysis, Kaizen, Value stream mapping, labor analysis, 5S 8 wastes, changeover reduction
Possess the leadership skills required to drive processes at your local plant
Sound financial acumen and problem-solving skills to drive improvements in back-office operations like Leasing, HR, Finance, Engineering and IT
