RSI Logistics, recently acquired by Trinity Industries Inc., is looking for a Railcar Rates and Routes Coordinator. The Railcar Rates and Routes Coordinator’s primary objective is to create and maintain an accurate freight rate and routing database. This role is also responsible for seeking out areas for savings or improvements, while also being in compliance with railroad weight limitations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Rail Routing & Rate Resolution
- Create/maintain rail routing in applicable SAP system
- Update/escalate freight rate contracts Database.
- Ensure optimal route aligns with minimal volume commitments with railroads
- Update and maintain the rate table. Ensure rates and routes are uploaded to the rate server. Verify data populated accurately and successfully.
- Create, modify, and delete rates and routes information as conditions warrant
- Update and monitor fuel surcharge data into a rate server that feeds SAP system.
- Maintains and updates diversion fees and transfer bills
- Work with the Rail Procurement team to establish freight rates for new requests
- Ensure that routes are accurate with serving railroads- Protecting from unknown changes in service by the railroad such as a railroad interchanging traffic at an alternate interchange junction etc.
- Identify savings and efficiency opportunities that arise (e.g. alternative routes are more efficient and cost effective)
- Maintains weight limit information for all North American shipments
- Develop and execute a strategy for reviewing and, if necessary, updating existing rates and routes on server
- Maintain accurate and updated rates and routes on the server
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree preferred and/or relevant experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in rail operations, freight payment or accounting
- General understanding and application of accounting practices
- System savvy (prior ERP experience or Rail TMS experience highly preferred)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
