Join the coatings team at Trinity Rail and put your industrial painting experience to work on products that help keep the supply chain moving. As a Senior Painter, you will prepare, coat, and finish metal and other surfaces using conventional and airless spray equipment. This role is ideal for a resilient, safety-minded, and team-oriented individual who takes pride in quality workmanship and is ready to contribute in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
In this role, you will mix and apply industrial coating systems, including alkyds, epoxies, gel coats, urethane, zinc epoxies, and waterborne paint systems according to prescribed formulas. You will adjust spray equipment, monitor paint flow and viscosity, use mil gauges properly, clean and maintain paint lines and spray guns, regulate drying oven temperature and air circulation, complete required paperwork, and follow all safety rules and practices.
What you’ll do:
• Perform all Level 2 Painter responsibilities and apply advanced coating knowledge
• Apply exterior coatings using advanced spray and hand-held application techniques
• Seal and bake final exterior coatings to meet quality and product specifications
• Apply most interior coatings and complete related applications with proficiency
• Seal and bake final interior coatings while maintaining safety, quality, and efficiency standards
What you’ll need:
• 2–4 years of related industrial painting, coatings, in a manufacturing setting
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, complete required documentation, and work safely as part of a team
• Strong attendance, dependability, and willingness to work assigned shifts and overtime as needed
• Ability to work in a physically active manufacturing environment, including standing, bending, lifting, and using tools or equipment throughout the shift
• Basic math and measurement skills, including the ability to read gauges, follow formulas, and meet coating specifications
• Attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work that meets customer and company standards
• Ability to communicate effectively, ask questions when needed, and support a respectful team environment
• Willingness to follow all safety procedures, wear required PPE, and maintain a clean and organized work area
