TrinityRail is seeking a Specialist, Category Buyer to join our Corporate Headquarters in Addison, TX. This role will focus on indirect procurement with an emphasis on Corporate Spend, supporting all Trinity facilities including headquarters, new railcar production, and railcar maintenance facilities. The Category Buyer plays a crucial role in reducing the total cost of ownership within the TrinityRail Supply Chain. The candidate will manage supplier relationships, negotiate and renew contracts, and drive cost improvements across the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure purchased products comply with company and regulatory standards, supporting Trinity’s business and production operations
- Manage corporate purchasing activities both within and outside the ERP system
- Support the RFP process for each business group
- Collaborate with corporate business leaders to complete orders, identify new procurement needs, and resolve invoicing and shipment issues
- Develop processes to resolve invoicing issues in conjunction with accounting teams
- Address supplier discrepancies in price, terms, returns, supply, or quality through renegotiation, replacement, or back charges
- Lead RFPs when applicable, place orders, track estimated arrival times, and arrange shipments
- Generate and maintain supplier partnerships
- Collaborate with operations and continuous improvement teams to support cost reduction projects
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Logistics, Supply Chain, or an equivalent combination of experience
- Experience in Oracle Fusion Procurement preferred
- 5+ years of relevant experience preferred
- Bilingual skills preferred
- Continuous improvement experience or mindset
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Advanced computer literacy with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
- Ability to work collaboratively across all levels of the organization
Experience interfacing with Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Executive Leadership Team (ELT) members
Willingness to travel (10%) to various plant locations across the US
