Trinity Industries is seeking a Vice President, Quality with deep railcar manufacturing, quality, and improvement experience in our Dallas, TX office. The position will report to the Senior Vice President Quality & Technical Services. As a member of the senior leadership team, the position will have overall responsibility for Quality Compliance, Quality Operations, Customer Quality Support and Supplier Quality teams.
This is a senior leadership position that requires seasoned and sound judgement and an ability to collaborate effectively across the organization supporting operations while achieving high levels of performance across a wide range of deliverables.
What You'll Do:
- Partner with Procurement, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations teams to ensure TrinityRail products meet technical, quality, and delivery requirements
- Provide strategic direction for all quality initiatives, ensuring integration of Quality, Supplier Quality, and Compliance within the broader operational strategy
- Collaborate with internal teams to design and maintain adequate process controls that support manufacturing and product reliability
- Lead Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action processes with suppliers and internal teams to resolve major quality issues and prevent recurrence
- Recruit, develop, and manage the Supplier Quality organization, fostering a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous learning
- Serve as a key liaison for customers, regulatory bodies, and industry partners regarding quality matters, building trust and demonstrating strong quality governance
- Lead and oversee internal and external audits related to quality and regulatory requirements, ensuring full adherence to industry standards
- Maintain and manage regulatory, and industry certifications, ensuring ongoing readiness and compliance across the supply base
- Have ownership of the TrinityRail Quality Management System policies, standards and procedures
- Lead compliance activities at all facilities to ensure ongoing regulatory certifications
- Lead all internal and external facility audit events and effective root cause and corrective actions
- Lead quality operations teams at defined manufacturing facilities to ensure effective execution of quality assurance and quality control programs, ensuring that products meet specifications and regulatory requirements
- Ensure facilities maintain adequate resources for required inspection, testing, and certification activities
- Oversee implementation and maintenance of process controls, inspection standards, and quality checkpoints to support manufacturing reliability and minimize defects
- Lead and support facility-level audits, both internal and external, and drive effective root cause analysis and corrective action to ensure sustained compliance
- Provide executive oversight of customer facing quality activities, ensuring timely, accurate, and professional communication with customer Quality and Manufacturing teams
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships, reinforcing confidence in product quality, issue resolution processes, and continuous improvement commitments
- Develop and sustain a robust supplier quality management system, including qualification, onboarding, monitoring, and continuous development of suppliers
- Review and analyze supplier performance data to identify high impact suppliers and systemic issues, driving strategic improvements
- Implement clear criteria and standards for evaluating and reducing supplier related quality issues.
What you'll bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferably a concentration in mechanical, industrial, manufacturing, or comparable degree programs.MSE or MBA preferred
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in leadership roles aligned with Safety, Quality, Engineering, Continuous Improvement &/or Manufacturing Operations
- Ability to function at a high level in a matrix environment requiring high levels of collaboration
- Rail industry or related experience including regulatory and industry compliance and standards for delivery support preferred
- Experience and knowledge with leading diverse teams.\
- Demonstrated strong leadership, collaboration, project management, problem-solving, change management and influencing skills.
- Results driven and able to achieve/exceed strategic objectives
- Demonstrates a leadership identity throughout the organization by eliciting a performance culture through example that can be emulated throughout the organization
- Able to develop innovative and creative solutions to enhance business relationships, create leverage and solve critical issues
- Ability to interface with customers and build trust across a large network
- A highly motivated team player that excels in ability to change, pivot, adapt and grow
