The Welding Program Supervisor is a welding process expert and designated site leader collaborating with the local leadership team to assure full implementation of the Trinity Rail Plant Level Welding Program. The Welding Program Supervisor teaches, coaches, monitors and mentors welders and Leads for continuous improvement of Trinity Rail welding processes. The Welding Program Supervisor is part of a team that administers, reviews, and reports on Trinity Rail Plant Level Welding Program processes and procedures as they are executed in the plant. This person is also involved in welding cost analysis, defect root cause corrective action analysis, and implementation of improvement processes.

Job responsibilities of the Welding Program Supervisor are as follows:

·         Oversee administration of the Trinity Rail Plant Level Welding Program, per Trinity Rail Welding Standards and following established guidelines

·         Good working knowledge of Trinity Rail Welding Standards, industry welding codes and specifications

·         Implement and monitor the use of assigned Weld Procedure Specifications

·         Assigning and controlling the log of welder identification symbols (aka welder stamps)

·         Teach and demonstrate on the following topics: Welding symbols, welding procedures, acceptance criteria. Use of basic welding equipment, materials, techniques, and nomenclature

·         Apply root cause analysis to welding quality issues and target specific training or process changes needed

·         Assist with applicant review process and functions as a certified weld test administrator providing administration of proper testing and instruction for welding job openings; evaluate ability and recommend acceptance or rejections

·         Keep and provide logs of welder certification, training and operator performance, and performance issues for future follow-up

·         Evaluate training effectiveness, audit welder performance, analyze performance trends, and follow up on areas of concern

·         Provide welding program reports and work with plant management to plan and prioritize projects

·         Provide shop floor support, trouble-shoot welding problems involving welding process and technique, and provide corrective actions

·         Periodically check welding parameters used, welder continuity, equipment, conditions, and report; recommend corrective actions

·         Work on teams to find root causes of problems, to document current conditions, and create and implement process improvements to increase quality and productivity to welding operations

Requirements for consideration in role -

·         At least 4 years’ experience as a certified welder including time as a specialist training, calibrating machinery, etc.

·         Ability to work in a team-environment; train and coach operations team members and specifically work closely with new and existing welders

·         Ability to manage schedules and timelines for completion of all initiatives to support plant overall goals including pre-employment assessment, post hire onboarding and training, maintaining integrity of certifications, etc.

·         Be certified in FCAW and GMAW and have the ability to weld and train others in all processes and positions used at the plant

·         Good verbal and written communication skills relative to welding

·         Computer skills to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint

·         Positive management attitude

·         A keen interest in welding and learning about welding

·         Ability to communicate to various levels of management and all levels of production personnel.

·         Self-motivated

·         Available to work flexible hours in the event of multiple shifts

·         May travel to other US facilities as needed
